Jessi and Charlie’s celebration began as a relaxed backyard engagement party and turned into something unforgettable — a surprise wedding surrounded by their closest family and friends in the beautiful town of Wayzata, Minnesota.

Jessi and Charlie had planned this for a few months in order to surprise their friends and family. When I interviewed them for their wedding film, they talked through their idea of a surprise wedding – and the reasons for it. They were ready to be married, they enjoyed surprising their friends, and they had met through a stranger, at a bar in the North Loop of Minneapolis, when Jessi was thinking of moving back to Nashville.

As a Minnesota and destination wedding videographer, these kinds of stories are always so fun to document. Jessi and Charlie, I had met after filming Jocie’s wedding earlier that year at Redeemed Farm in Scandi, Minnesota. The people are my favorite part of my job as a wedding videographer. I think that keeps me excited to take on new challenges and to try new things every year to be better. At the core I think my favorite moment is delivering a wedding film or photos to a client and having it be better than they expected. That gives me all the joy.
