Super 8 Wedding Videographer | Jocie + Alex at Redeemed Farm, Minnesota
If you’re dreaming of a wedding film that feels like a timeless memory rather than a typical highlight reel, you’re going to love this. Jocie and Alex’s wedding at Redeemed Farm in Scandia, Minnesota was everything a Super 8 film was made for—authentic, emotional, and beautifully imperfect in all the right ways.
As a Super 8 wedding videographer in Minnesota, I’m always chasing those raw, unscripted moments that tell the real story of a wedding day. And from the second I arrived at Redeemed Farm, I knew this one would be special. I’ve added 16mm film since I started with super 8 – the price difference is slight but the difference is a large format of film which essentially means a cleaner image but still a film look. Super 8 was essentially made to be a home video quality but on film – 16mm film is twice the width of 8mm film, resulting in a larger frame size and generally better resolution and detail.
Jocie reached out via Instagram, and we got to chatting. Jocie’s a medical sales rep, and so talking via phone was very simple and enjoyable. Alex is a former D1 hockey player who returned to Minnesota and found the love of his life. When I walked into that wedding day, I was super thankful to be able to film their wedding. I’m so grateful I get to do this job, and couples like Jocie + Alex make it all the better.
Tucked into the countryside just north of the Twin Cities, Redeemed Farm is one of the most photogenic venues North of the Twin Cities. The gardens and various areas that Jeff and Julie have curated to make it a venue that was even featured in British Vogue.
It’s equal parts vineyard, restored barn, and rustic-modern dream. The ceremony took place in the Stone Arch, surrounded by old-growth trees and warm summer light. It was fun, energetic and the couples community showed up to party.
There’s something about watching your wedding day play back on real Super 8mm film that hits different. It’s nostalgic, it’s emotional, and it’s honest. The quiet glances, the joyful tears, the laughter echoing in the barn rafters during speeches—it all feels more alive on film.
With Jocie and Alex, I focused on letting the day unfold naturally. No staged moments, no cinematic slow-motion poses. Just real life—captured in a way that’ll still feel timeless 50 years from now.
Redeemed Farm has this intentional, handmade feel to it. Every space—the vineyard courtyard, the Gathering Barn, the candlelit silo—is designed to bring people together in a genuine way. Pairing that atmosphere with Super 8 wedding videography creates a film that feels intimate and documentary-like, almost like a home movie you never knew you needed.
If you’re planning a wedding at Redeemed Farm—or anywhere in Minnesota—and you’re drawn to nostalgia, documentary storytelling, and films that prioritize emotion over production, Super 8 film might be the perfect fit for you.
