I met Kira and Jacob in person for the first time at Jocie and Alex’s rehearsal dinner I was filming earlier this year in Stillwater, Minnesota. They had booked me for video in the fall but on the same date I was flying out to connecticut to film Tara’s wedding (looking forward to that one). I was remiss that I wouldn’t be able to spend more time with them so I offered an engagement session. The couple said it would work great and asked for a location. One of my favorite locations is the American Swedish institute nestled within Minneapolis, Minnesota. I think the American Swedish Institute is the perfect location for engagement photos or a wedding. The location does require you to get a permit to photograph there and they ask that you don’t interfere with any of the guests visiting. I happily obliged ASI’s requests, and we were able to capture some great images of the couple.
While I won’t be able to film Kira and Jacob’s wedding in person this fall, I will be able to edit it as one of my team members will be capturing it, and I look forward to the stunning images from their day.
After the engagement session, we grabbed a cocktail at the FIKA cafe and headed up to the terrace on the roof to overlook the pavilion. It so happened that night they had a full choir performing for guests. It was a lovely end to a great evening.
If you’re looking for a location for engagement photos, I recommend ASI (American Swedish Institute) for it’s gorgeous architecture and beautiful sunlight it lets in around golden hour. I’m looking forward to heading back here for a wedding this fall.
