“I want it all shot on film” – Brittany Osborn.
When I talked to Brittany about her wedding film she told me she wanted it all shot on film. I was hesitant because shooting super 8 film and 16mm film is a high risk high reward venture. If something happens in transit to the lab, or the camera malfunctions, or the post office x-rays my films when I mail it in a lot of good footage can be ruined. So eventually I told her I would shoot film as long as I had a camera as a backup. I think I referred to my canon r6 as my “good camera” and that I would shoot the rest of Super 8 mm film as well as my 16mm film camera the K3. The K3 16mm camera is loud. It smells out, and the images are beautiful.
So with much planning- last night I got to do something I never dreamed I’d get to do. I got to film an engagement session (I’ll be it- most of it on super 8 and 16mm film which I won’t see for another 4-6 weeks) on a sailboat and at the Villa Terrace Decorative Arts Museum In Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
Brittany reached out to me after she’d been referred to me through a facebook group online to do her wedding next year. She told me she was planning an engagement session in Milwaukee, WI at the Villa Terrace Decorative Arts Museum and on a sailboat in the middle of Lake Michigan. I lovvveeeeddd the idea and decided it was worth the 5 hour drive from my home in minneapolis, Mn. I’ll be honest, my butt hurt bad after 5 hours in the car but the footage and the couple made it worth it. Truly a gorgeous day.
