Why get super 8 film for your wedding day? The costs are high for film development, it’s a tedious process, and often times you have to wait even longer to get your film back because of lab times but let me try and convince you why you should.
As a wedding videographer in Minnesota I’ve been always striving to find new tools that help me add a new cool twist to couples wedding films. One of those tools is the analog format (or film).
Super 8 film gives a nostalgic old time look and mixed with a modern cinema camera shows your wedding day through a different set of eyes. Imagine looking through your parents or grandparents old wedding film and then being able to recreate some of the same look and feel in the modern day with a super 8 camera. It’s hard to explain but easier to see. Here’s a small clip of a few weddings I’ve done this summer that might be able to explain better what I’m trying to describe.
As you can see, it gives a vintage, nostalgic feel that can’t be matched by digital imitation. I’ve been filming wedding for over a decade and I think having a different medium to tell your story helps add a depth that you cannot get with a typical wedding film. I have a few ideas for making wedding films a bit more spicy, but I’ll save that for a future blog post.
